Hydro-Pure Growers is a gourmet produce grower that uses the latest techniques in controlled environment greenhouses and nutrient solutions. We are located on 3.5 acres east of Pueblo, CO, about 120 miles south of Denver. Our market is mainly quality-minded, “high-end” restaurants, up and down the Rocky Mountains, from Santa Fe, NM to Ft. Collins, CO.

What are the advantages of using controlled environment greenhouses?

Hydro-Pure Growers carefully controls the growing conditions of our produce to maximize its quality. We do this by using controlled environment greenhouses, where everything from the temperature, humidity, light, nutrients, carbon dioxide, and beneficial-insects are carefully monitored and adjusted. We grow various gourmet salad greens and have plans to soon add culinary herbs.

Why is hydroponic growing better than organic?

Hydroponic growing is better because it allows us to use high-tech, soil-less growing techniques. As a result, we deliver to the plants accurate nutrient solutions that are continually computer-monitored and injected into an analyzed water system. Since there is no soil, soil-borne disease and insects are virtually eliminated. We do not use any pesticides in our greenhouses.

What does the term ‘live lettuce’ mean?

We harvest our lettuce using a method called ‘live lettuce.’ Each head is picked at the peak of its freshness and placed—roots and all—in a small greenhouse crisper, ensuring a just picked freshness and appearance. Refrigerated heads stay fresh up to three weeks! Further, our lettuce is a delicious, mild, easily digested product for all your salad needs. It is highly nutritious, containing vitamin A, C, iron, potassium, and other necessary minerals. An added benefit for you—due to the absence of soil—is the very quick and easy cleaning of this attractive and healthy lettuce.
